Open a newspaper – particularly a weekend supplement – and a deluge of leaflets will tumble out.
Unusually, this morning one was of interest. You may have already seen it – but it was advertising an event (part of the London 2012 Festival) Connecting Light taking place between 8pm and 11pm on Hadrian’s Wall on Friday 31 August and Saturday 1 September.
Connecting Light is a major new digital art installation along the line of the Hadrian’s Wall World Heritage Site, one of the most significant structures of the Roman Empire.
Using a series of 400 tethered weather balloons, approximately 6ft in diameter and lit by internal LED lights, the Connecting Light installation will become a line of pulsating colours as messages are sent to and along Hadrian’s Wall. It will be visible in the evening (8pm to 11pm) and best accessed by visitors at nine managed locations.
Sounds like a real photo opportunity. Go to the website here for more information.
