Although not new, I recently came across something called the Guardian Camera Club. It’s not the only national newspaper to feature photography, but this struck me as a little different and perhaps more interesting. If you’re a regular Guardian reader, you will be well ahead of me on this.
It features a Green Shoots Nature section, a Blog, a Flickr Group as well as a series of Monthly Assignments which look interesting.
What especially caught my eye however is the section called Folio Reviews where a Guardian picture editor will select the most interesting of readers images to critique.
Many of the images appraised here are, dare one say, “modern” and not the traditional camera club fare. The critique commentary, although brief, offers a fresh insight into how a professional picture editor thinks about images.
It’s well worth a look.
